Many thanks to you

The Thanksgiving holiday symbolizes the importance of togetherness, giving back, and gratitude. The day serves as a reminder to appreciate what we have, treasure the people in our lives, and show kindness and generosity to all.

At the American Legion Auxiliary, we remain inspired by the kindness and generosity of our members and loyal supporters. Because of your generosity, the ALA is able to fund emergency financial assistance grants to members and scholarships for military children and non-traditional students.

However, our work doesn’t stop there. Donations to the American Legion Auxiliary Foundation are used to fund two types of grants that directly benefit veterans and military families across the country:

Veteran Projects Fund grants are awarded up to $10,000 to ALA entities to address new, one-time needs to support veterans or military families. Since 2013, the Foundation has awarded 73 Veteran Projects Fund grants, totaling over $345,000.

Veterans Creative Arts Festival grants are awarded up to $2,500 to ALA entities hosting a local Veterans Creative Arts Festival in coordination with a regional VA medical center that participates in the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival. Since 2014, the Foundation has awarded 40 local Veterans Creative Arts Festival grants, totaling over $84,000.

This year, when you chose to give to the ALA or the ALA Foundation, you helped make real change possible in the lives of military families — whether it was through emergency financial assistance or helping fund a grant for a beach-accessible wheelchair for a local veterans home. Your donations provided hope, created brighter futures, and ultimately changed the lives of those we serve.

Your support reinforces the trust you place in the mission of the Auxiliary and the ALA Foundation, and for that, we are grateful.

Thank you for being an essential part of our mission to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. Together, we’re making a difference — one gift at a time.
